Let me start by thanking all the people who've taken the time and gone through the trouble of posting all the great guides here. I didn't realize how much could actually be done to/with the wii.
Onto the introduction....My name is Moe, I've been a Nintendo fan/user since the beginning. I bought my first NES with my babysitting money when it first came out and have owned almost every system since(no virtual boy, but who bought that one?). I've passed my Nintendo love down to my kids, my 2 youngest went as Mario and Luigi for Halloween 3 years in a row by their own choice. The youngest sculpts worlds from Mario64 out of play-doh, all the characters included. My 16 year old will actually come out of his room voluntarily when a new Zelda game enters the house. The skin on my iphone is an original NES controller, totally geeky, but I love it.
Our Wii is from launch day, gone through a couple drives though, it gets played entirely too much. I just recently performed a soft-mod following the guide on here, mostly because one of my kids wanted to play Pikmin 2 for the Wii and there isn't an ntsc version. Thanks to this place he is a very happy gamer now.
I probably won't post much but since I have a couple questions I can't seem to find the answers to I figured I should introduce myself before asking anything.
On second thought, I don't think this is the place for me. Some parting advice, get ALL the facts before deciding what's piracy.
I do in fact own the disc I downloaded the iso for, but it's beat and I figured a clean download would work better. The kid that wants to play it now didn't get a chance before the disc became unreadable, him and the game came out the same year, one of the disadvantages of being the youngest of 5, things get trashed before he's old enough to use them. We used to have a pal Wii, our dog, when he was a puppy, peed on it and killed it, which is why I was asking how to play pal games on ntsc, we still have some kicking around.
I've never downloaded a game I didn't already own, in some cases I have multiple copies of games, but discs get scratched, especially around kids.
Anyways, thanks for the guides, they helped a ton, but I think I'll go back to just reading and I'll figure out my pal gc games on ntsc issue myself eventually.
