New thread post not showing up

I posted a new tutorial to the Wiihacks Tutorials, Submit Articles / Tutorials section I made on how to connect your Wii to the new Wiimmfi servers and play online again now that the official Nintendo Wi-Fi servers are down and it's not showing up. After I submitted it a message popped up saying that a mod needed to approve it before it would show up. That was about 2 or 3 days ago. The tutorial wasn't the greatest but I was planning on doing a lot of updates to it and editing it to make it look nicer. I was wondering if something went wrong and I need to submit it again or if someone could look at and approve it. Thank you.

That's typical for that section (auto-moderated). We expect guides to be fully understood by the author and support offered for those who would make inquiry or follow it. In reference to the first thing I mention (which causes me pause in approving it), I submit the following:

Find out what the differences are and how to explain that in the guide and I'll approve it. You would then be required to edit the explanation in and provide guidance. Just PM me should you accept that responsibility. And we do appreciate the blackhole that Nintendo wifi is currently sitting in (with regard to remedies).

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'll try to ask for more clarification about that in the appropriate forums. I do remember asking about that in the past and if I remember correctly, if you followed the Softmod Any Wii guide then you should use the 249 one. And the only downside to using the wrong one is that it will take a few seconds longer for USB Loader GX to load up. But I'll do my homework and update the guide accordingly. I don't even think updating USB loader GX is really necessary but I just thought I would throw that in there. So if you'd like, I could just remove that part entirely and just reference the official USB Loader GX thread for those who want to update. Or maybe I could just find out what is the right version to use after following the Softmod Any Wii guide and only give instructions on how to update it after following that guide. But anway, how did the rest of it look to you?

Like I said, it was my first time writing a guide and I plan on constantly updating it to make it look better. I was actually planning on adding screen shots from the computer side of things tonight if my guide was up. My goal is to make it look as neat and organized as the Softmod Any Wii guide. It's just going to take a little trial and error to get all the code tags working the way I want them to. I'm working night shifts this week with nothing to do so if you could approve it tonight I will make the changes. You could keep it in the tutorial submissions section until it's to your liking and then move it when you feel it's adequate. Thanks.

Generally with regard to 249 (base 56), we find the base used is more compatible with a wider range of titles. 250 uses a different base (57)and in very rare cases it may be more suitable for a problem title. 222 (base 38) is a cIOS coded by Hermes that also supports dual layered titles/discs (Waninkoko's versions of 249 back in the day had broken support for dual layered titles; not so with the current version in our guide).

Being you've chosen to support one (alternate to the now-defunct Nintendo WIFI) and not the other, if I were you I'd not link to the secondary method. You have no first-hand knowledge, so any questions that would potentially be asked may leave you flat on your feet. Saying "My guide supports X" (and linking to X), "but there are others out there but beyond the scope of my experience and guide" may be more appropriate.

I will approve it; please add like a red fonted "Work in Progress" disclaimer near top of it.

Thank you so much. I'll start getting to work on it.

Edit: I updated my guide some and added some screenshots as well. I still need to update and clean up the section talking about adding your friend code to the new server. I will tackle that tomorrow though. You can see what progress I had made here if you are interested.

Looks good so far. To offer some advice: in addition to advising members your guide is based on the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide, I'd also suggest you mention the same for drive format (FAT32). You're making an assumption, though most (but not all) would have their drive setup that way. For example, I'm still old-school and mine is setup as WBFS. While I have the knowledge in order to adapt your directions to my particular setup, not everybody would. So I'd link to the FAT32 guide in addition.

In expanding a bit on the cIOS 222/223/249/250 issue, we maintain a list of Troublesome games here where we might recommend a cIOS other than 249.

So I think I'm pretty much done. The only thing left for me to add is pictures from the Wii side of things. I don't have a video capture card so I may end up needing to take pictures of my TV. Also, the pictures I already added I may put on a file hosting site so I can link to them and have them bigger instead of needing to be clicked on. I hope you know what I mean.

You need any help to fine tune it (whether as to content or as to layout), LMK. Again, I offer the invitation of PMing me should the need arise.

Did you get either of my PMs? I tried sending both you and cjizzle one but after I clicked send I don't see anything in my sent messages folder.

By default, sent PMs don't get saved. You can change that in User settings (if you have no luck, LMK). When you change, remember to select "save" (I think, lol it's been awhile). I'll get to your PMs tomorrow but yes I got'em.
