    hi mauifrog,

Saw this guide in the hope of converting my softmoded 4.2J to any english version. I'd just like to ask where can I find steps 5b - 8 because when I follow the link I can't see any step 5.

    ARC mod- main menu loads.
All settings should match the installed system menu
The "WARNING: AREA: SysMenu MISMATCH!" error should no longer be displayed
Verify, verify, verify- make sure all info is correct
    Exit To HBC
    Goto- Softmod Any Wii
    Do Steps 5b- 8
    Thanks..

Thanks mauifrog, this is a useful guide to say the least

One question I have about this is...
Will changing my US Wii's region to Korea make it able to run Korean games??
Because I heard that there was a difference in hardware between Korean Wiis and non-Korean Wiis.

And since most of my games are American, will my Wii still be able to play American games?

Thanks for the effort and help

I would not change a US wii to korean. You can play Korean games via USB, but you must first change the Korean ios to run the common key. I wrote a guide on how to do it somewhere.

Guide: How to add Korean game iso to usb.
    Download-
    iospatcher-1.1.zip
    wiiscrubber pack.zip
    KOR-wiiscrubber.zip

Extract iospatcher-1.1.zip and wiiscrubber pack.zip to \wiicrubber or other
    Extract KOR-wiiscrubber.zip to \wiiscrubber\kor-wiiscrubber

    Open \wiiscrubber\kor-wiiscrubber\wiiscrubber.exe
Click Yes to "Doesn't seem to be the correct key.bin. Do you want to use anyways??"
    Click "Load ISO"
    Open your Korean game iso
    Expand Partition 1- DATA
Right click on partition.bin and extract

    Open \wiicrubber\WiiPartitionBinChanger.exe
In the lower left corner, click "load" Select partition.bin from above
Under "Ticket" set Korean Key to "FALSE"
    Click "Update"
    Click "Sign"
Click "Save" in the lower left corner, save partition.bin
Click on "TMD" at the top, check out the "System Version", this is the ios the game is using. You may need to patch this to something else, or install the ios.
    Exit

    Go back to KOR-wiiscrubber
Right click on partition.bin, replace partition.bin with the one you just edited
    Partition turns bad
    Exit Kor-wiiscrubber

Now, you may not have the ios required to run the Korean game. Use iospatcher to view the ios files, and change to another ios if necessary. You could change it to the ios the none KOR game uses, or change it to ios249 or any ios you wish.

Load the game to usb via WBFS manager, it should copy just fine. (Have not tried to play yet)

If you open the iso in wiiscrubber, it will now appear to use the common key, instead of the Korean Key.

Edit- Just tested KOR-Zelda. Works Great. I do have Korean Ios on my wii, but you should be able to patch to another, or possibly block the ios reload in usbloader.
Changing a us wii to Korean may brick the wii.

So I am encountering an error. Im attempting to go from a European region to a American one. However, when I finish installing the USA System Menu the Region Settings do not change, staying in their European settings. And when I change it it gives me "Unexpected Error: SYSCONF_SaveChanges Value: -102" Is there any way to fix this error?

Have you ever used the comix nand formater?

So there isn't any way I can play Korean games on the actual retail discs, but only via USB?

Well, if that's the case, I'd better get a USB drive ready :P

If you have a Korean wii, you should be able to play Korean discs without issue. If not, DarkCorp supports Korean discs from the disc channel. If loading Korean games from usb you must first remove the Korean encryption. I have a guide on that somewhere.

You've employed some unorthodox methods to solve a problem. Why would you have left your NTSC Wii @ PAL in the first place? I hope that's a retail disc you're speaking of... and I see you've found the Black Ops guide. Please don't spread the fail across the forums, LOL.
