Open any region changer, just change the game region back to the original (jap) and save. Your games should work, if they don't perhaps you did not have a modchip but a softchip (cioscorp/darkcorp). If you have a modchip that is region free, it will change the game region to whatever region it is configured for. If the modchip region does not match the wii region it will not load the game as the wii will block the out of region disc. Only way to know what modchip it is would be to open the wii, typically this is required to change the region on the chip. Most chips have region switches to configure region, some from disc.

Not all games support English, if it is a jap game. USA/Euro games should, some jap. The game region does not effect the language, only the language setting. Now you don't really want to be changing these all the time. So if you need to make changes on the fly, best to softmod and load disc with neogamma or load from usb. Then you can change the game settings per game to what works.

Actually, my jap console (with modchip i assume) play all NTSC games & PAL games, if the games from US, it will play in english, if the games from jap, it will play in jap language, the only problem is the menu wii, it will load with japanese which sometime it very annoying, in this case, i think i will stick with jap as it can play all games.. it seem like region free (can play all games) but not allowed you to change language

Try Super Smash Bros Brawl Pal, does not work with jap language setting last I checked. I am sure there are other games.

Nope; quit being cheap, go out and buy one (and the right type and size --- that's 2gb or smaller, full SD --- no SDHC, no MicroSD in adapter).
