    Hi all,
At the risk of offending certain individuals on this site I am having another go at solving my dilema.
I have a 3.3e version wii with a Wiikey 2 (yellow sticker) installed on it. I have installed the wii boot 1.3 config disc. My original games work just fine. I am now trying to install homebrew to which purpose I have tried to download the Homebrew Channel-beta8 (dated 2008/06/06) which I downloaded from links on this site. The iso file I loaded using imgburn onto Verbatim DVD-R discs at 2*write speed and I have also tried at 4* write speed. The wii tells me that "an error has occurred - remove disc, turn the unit off" etc, etc.
YES I am a newby, YES I havn't got much idea of what I am doing, YES I have read the relevant sections, 25 times to no avail. Sorry to you people who are Tutting again because I am asking silly questions but I do need help and I would be grateful if someone could give it to me. I have spent many hours trying before asking for help

Mate, if you are having so much trouble trying to install it by disk wouldn't it be easier to go down the SD Card route ?? Especially as Homebrew is now at Ver 1

Homebrew channel with an already modded chip

I have a hard modded wii, which works fine and plays all back ups. I wanted to add the homebrew channel and other stuff, but wasn't sure which tutorial is current and relevant. Do I need twilight hack or not since I am already hard modded? If you know of a good tut, can you point me in the direction?

    Thanks.

    I think I found the answer - If I am 3.2 or below i don't need twilight, but if I am above, i do....correct?

    Yes mate,
according to Chrischown ( thankyou Chrischown, cos I was totally lost until you sent me that little gem) you need to be down to 3.2 or below.

I am at present on 3.3e.

    From what i can gather you need the twighlight hack. Take a look here;

    http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/

    and here

    http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Setting_up_your_Wii_for_Homebrew

I am still lost but I have just purchased a copy of "Legend of Zelda Twighlight Princess" from ebay, which should arrive in the next couple of days. I dont think I needed to purchase the game as the relevant files are available above but it is supposed to be a good game. I will post any relevant info (or cock-ups) here.

You don't need to buy the game. You could rent or borrow it since you are only using it to open up the patch.

This I think is a pretty old thread but when you do start and the first thing you do is the twilight hack and get hbc you do get a smile on your face and pat yourself on your back

Confused about Wii's ability to update and remove mods

Is it possible to softmod without the Zelda game? Sorry I couldn't resist that but seriously now.

After installing HBC and Backup Launcher Gamma on my Wii using the (incredibly Useful) Twilight Hack guides on this site, A computer illiterate pal of mine wants me to do the same for him so he can play his game backups only. he's not into the modding scene in the slightest and wouldn't want to be messing about with it. I'm happy to keep upto date with my own Wii and all new hacks but I don't want to be dealing with his every other month. My question relates to this.

Once the softmod is completed with 3.2e, HBC, Backup Launcher Gamma and Starfall installed if he only uses backups of his own pal games, doesn't use his wii online and doesn't accept any system updates requested by games is it likely that it won't need touching again? A few games won't work I know but that's fine!

    Keep up the good work!!!

    Mario kart update

For my NTSC-U console i should get a NTSC Mario Cart game right?
and i have Starfall installed wouldn't that skip the update of the game?
Lastly i am on 3.2U, by doing the update do i go to another firmware and have to downgrade again?

    thx for your answers

I believe one of the things which has kept my Wii safe is that I only use my regions games (PAL)....... one of the ways to brick your wii is to accept an out of region update.
What you do with your Wii............. is up to you ;-)
