When I go through the tutorial to update to update the Wii Shop channel, it downloads a bunch of files, then says that a higher version is already installed. If this is the case, am I OK to update Netflix through the actual Netflix app? My Wii is a softmodded 4.2U box.

Did you use ATD to remove everything? If not, you need to... Read the posts above.

I'm stuck.... Progress so far: Already installed the newest Wii Shop Channel v20 with Wiimod v3.0 with IOS36, then installed IOS56 as adviced. I then, went ahead and deleted Netflix from Wii the Wii Data Management. I then loaded ATD through HBC and all I get is "IOS Changer" and it lets me cycle through IOSs but it never gives me the option for "Installed Channel Titles". What am I doing wrong? Any extra help is appreciated, thanks.
Edit 1: I went ahead and cycled through different IOSs and selected IOS56 and I did see the "Installed Channel Titles" Option....Hmm.... I installed IOS56 with Wiimod 3.0 as described in earlier posts so I believe this is it. But, I'll wait here to get a confirmation from someone else like cjizzle to make sure.

I am having error code 204036 also, which won't let me download netflix. I am able to download other things though. I deleted the channel, the saves and went into atd and deleted it there, but got error codes saying it wasn't there, then when I closed and reopened atd, the file wasn't there. Still get the 204036 code. I had updated my wii a few weeks ago, so it is up to date. Any other ideas?

It's a miracle!
Did the same as rocker4sure above and it gave an error on the first attempt to download the channel from the store, but WORKED on the second attempt immeadiately following it!
CJizzle, I just want you to know that I took the time to register just so that I could say how awesome you are, thank you!

Edit: Also, been hanging out at Wiihack's chat (#wiihacks) since last night trying to get some help but it seems rather dead -_-' I'll keep lurking in there, hopefully someone can help me out.

Not fully fixed error code 204036 but a bypass for now
Ok I too was getting the 204036 error code and was just choosing "No" when asked to update the channel until BAM no choice. I found this youtube <<OutSide Links Are Not Allowed!>> video that has a download link for a v1024 wad file (one for USA and one for EUR). I didn't remove my old channel or anything else. I just installed the wad for USA and now when I launch the channel it still says there's and update available, but I have an option to say "No" again. It is a newer channel cause it has the "Just for Kids" show up when I point over the netflix. Maybe if I took the time to completely remove netflix and reinstall the wad it would stop saying there's an update needed. Hope this helps others, I signed up here just to share my so called work around.

Still asked to update, but could choose "No" and still enjoy my shows. Just for its and iggles I removed all of netflix once more and tried getting it from the shopping channel. First time gave me a diff error code and second time worked like the seven dwarfs. Now no update asked.

I just did Softmod ANY Wii and installed Netflix from Shop Channel. Loading it gives a blank black screen. Any suggestions?
Edit: Wow, tried a bunch of stuff including re-updating IOS56 and redownloading many times. Finally managed to boot it from USB Loader GX only after changing the launch settings to "Force NTSC" video mode. Why this was needed, I do not know, since my console has always been U/NTSC. Once I made this setting, Netflix boots fine from USB Loader GX and a subsequent return to the System Menu shows it boots fine as well there. However, when the console is powered down, this setting must get lost, becuase Netflix again fails to run until loaded through USB Loader GX. Anyone have an idea how to rectify this issue?

Thanks ben63vw, I too found that wad and installed it to see that I needed to update again, and then I removed the save data and channel and ATD like you did, got a different error on my first download attempt and the second was a success and it works.

I am merging this thread with the netflix guide. A lot of this info could be useful to others who are running into this issue.
Update 7.8.2012. See first post for details.
