Yes, it is best to install from new, rather than update, but both will work.

I think you need to reload your system menu. This will remove priiloader, then reinstall priiloader.
You say priiloader works, so the hacks.ini should be OK.
    Did you install IOS70 first.

Ok, here's how I start after priiloader fails to give me a system menu.
I install ios70patchedfreethewad. Next I install 4.2Usystemmenu481wad. Now I should be without priiloader. Now I go to HBC and load priiloader. It shows that it is on IOS36-64-v3351.wad. I now install with +. I have also used + and b. This takes me back to HBC. I restart my wii into priiloader holding the reset button. I go to settings. On the first 2 options I have System menu selected. Save. Now still in priiloader I select system menu. I now have a black screen with 4.2U in the coner. I have also restarted my wii at the previous set with the same results.

    Thanks for your help John.

May this will help you to figure out what I need to do next. I'm the one who can't get the system menu to come up after priiloader install.

I've just got this working on mine, I went to the system menus hack and set everything except move disk channel to enabled, is this OK ?

In 'settings' at the bototm it says Use system ISO : On, is that right ?

    Thanks

Thats OK if thats what you want. You can set move the disc channel if you want, if you don't play DVD's you can grab the disc channel and put it at the end.
    Use system IOS is OK.
