Exclamation HDD-was working-now all games black screen - READ THIS

OK so your HDD was loaded with your games and was working fine. Now all of a sudden your covers and titles are there but pressing play gives you a black screen on ALL of your games, arrrgh - what happened?

First thing to do is see if you can remember the very 1st game that you ripped to the HDD. Load it up and see if that plays. WHY? - Let me explain.

I ripped 3 games to my HDD. Transformers, Splinter cell - double agent and wii sports. (In that order, remember this for what follows.

The next day I had read enough to realise Splinter cell wouldn't work from HDD so i hooked up the HDD to the PC and deleted it using WBFS manager 3.0.

Yesterday I read about someone having problems with 2 wiimotes working at the same time snd realised I hadn't checked that.

I go into wiiflow and now only transformers and wiisports are there (as you would expect). Clicked on wiisports, fine, clicked on play and black screen just hanging there for a good 5 mins. OK pressed the power button and it took about 10-15 seconds to power down.

Hmmmm - What could by causing this? Perhaps its because I still had the old wiiflow.ini from before I deleted the Splinter cell game?

OK - hook up THe HDD to PC again, delete the wiiflow.ini. Go back into wiiflow channel, great, both of my games are still there. Click on wii sports, attempt to play and again black screen hang.

So what else could be causing this? Have I broken something?

OK, lets see if the 1st game still works. Load up to play transformers expecting a black screen, but wait, it's loading......

Wow, it plays fine, nunchuck and all.

    So what the heck happened?

I suspect that wiiflow somehow keeps a record of exactly where on the drive it ripped a game to. So the 1st game runs as it knows exactly where to find it, right at the beginning. When it came to wii sports it couldn't find the game where it was expecting it to be as i had deleted the game that came between game one and where wii sports was meant to be.

    Resolution?

None apart from deleting wii sports from the HDD with WBFS and re-ripping. Now plays fine including two player.

I am using wiiflow but would like to hear if any other loaders do this or if that does not happen to others using wiiflow as it may be a brand specific HDD issue.

Deleting games via wiiflow does NOT give problems, just via WBFS Manager 3.

    Thanks.

I have wiiflow set up as a channel on my wii. I am trying to use priiloader to boot into wiiflow like I did with my usbloadergx. I have tried everything, and I cant get it to work. I changed the folder from wiiflow_249 to wiiflow. I have the nforwarder dol file on the root of sdcard also. Any help on getting this thing to work would be great. Thanks

    This is incorrect.

This is correct. Remember the "GAMECODE" will always be the 6-digit game id. I added an example to the guide.

Having the nforwarder.dol on your sd card won't matter once it's installed, but you need to make sure you've installed the file in the Priiloader menu first otherwise it cannot function.

Edit: I also added some notes in the priiloader section that might help if you have already installed the .dol file.

On the Main Menu click the giant ? symbol to view the credits. The version will reside at the top of the page.

Man ogg files suck... its not the actually converting, that i dont mind but the quality of the music when wiiflow starts is crappy. Is there any chances that since its open source that someone will come along and add mp3 or any of the other "better" formats, I dont know how you hard that would be but it would be great.

Also this loader rocks dont get me wrong, this is my ONLY rant about the loader, it's fucking awsome besides this and if i wern't 15 and money with a paypal I would donate in a heartbeat

Might check out the settings in the software you're using to convert: Make sure your data encoding and size match the input file. I use a series of cuts from the SSBB soundtrack which come out crystal clear, just like playing them from within the game.

If you have access to a mac, this is a freebie I've used to convert that was quick, painless, and the files come out perfect: SoX Wrap, a freeware MacOS X audio format converter | Waveform Software
