Getting Started with WiiScrubber

Very simple tutorial to get you started with WiiScrubber. Useful for people who want to scrub their .iso and zip it to save space or if you need to get the IOS to run your game from the update partition.
Using WiiScrubber along with other tools (i.e Trucha Signer, The Ghost) can become very helpful.


First off, you will need to download WiiScrubber:
WiiScrubber.rar



Make Key.bin

Unzip, the pack and run MakeKeyBin.exe
Type in 42 and Press Generate

a key.bin and kkey.bin file should now be generated.




Next Run Wiiscrubber.exe

WiiScrubber should open. Select Load ISO.

Browse for the .iso file and double click it to open it. In this case, I am using the conduit usa.

When the .iso is opened, the game name and region will be displayed

Extract files from update partition

If you want to extract the IOS wads from the update partiton, expand the partiton: Partition 0 - Update (0)
Then expand the _sys part. You should have several wad files, right click and press extract to extract them

Scrubbing an .iso

To begin press the scrub button

It should ask you where to save the scrubbed file

Scrubbing may take some time so be patient...

Though the scrubbed .iso seems to be the same size as the original (4.37 GB) when this iso is zipped it is smaller.

I usually use brickblocker before wiiscrubber and also use generic iso patcher to fix the 002 error. This has worked great for most of my backups but some of the newer ones have given me problems. (I installed the newest ios's for the games but they still don't work)

Is removing the ios parts of the update partition better than removing the entire partition like I have been doing?

All the games I use are always my same region but even though I use preloader to block disc updates the thought of a bricked wii makes my butt hole pucker. Thanks for the useful tutorial!

You don't need to run Generic ISO Patcher and BrickBlock them if you have Preloader and already installed IOS38, IOS53 and IOS55.

nice guide, i was wondering the game you used was NTSC version, is there any way of patching a NTCS to PAL and vice versa?

You can use your backup launcher to force a region game. For example, NeoGamma has a setting for 'Force PAL' and 'Force NTSC' If you're playing a PAL game on NTSC Wii, you would force NTSC. RegionFrii is said to change the region but i'd still recommend just forcing the region with a backup launcher or use Preloader for Region Free Loading

i know that you can force video modes, i was just wondering if there was a way to patch the games to "automate" the process, ie not having to force video modes every time you play the game :)
