Any online game will play normally if softmodded or not.

In games like Call Of Duty, you have to download a patch or free DLC from Wii Shop to enable the content, so once you update your Wii Shop, you can download the update and be able to go online with it.

If you want a more specific answer than that, you will have to be more specific with your question.

    MMM Question

what if the MMM IOS does not give me an option for changing to IOS236? It goes from 61 to 249 only.

That sounds like you don't have a proper Softmod. Use our Softmod ANY Wii guide to fix that.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

So I tried the online method and it was "successful", I did not receive any errors or anything, however, when I click on the wii shopping channel and click start and what not, it acts like it's going to load, but instead of loading it sends me back to the home screen. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Post a SysCheck, you may have an outdated IOS.

Wow. This isn't even modded. You've installed HBC (and a version we don't recommend that you use) and that's about it. You used an exploit to install one piece of software. The actual "modding" comes after that.

Here is what I would suggest you do: Whatever you used to install HBC 1.1.2, run it again and uninstall it. We recommend that you use 1.1.0 instead. Any differences between 1.1.0 and 1.1.2 are specific to Wii U's.

Once that has been uninstalled, see the Softmod Any Wii guide linked in my signature. Follow it exactly and include everything in chapter 2: Mod Pack, IOS Update, Shop Channel v21, Menu 4.1, and priiloader.

That will get your system current and able to access Wii Shop.
