I got this hard drive a couple days ago from a Boxing Day sale. I'm a little rattled it didn't work. I just don't get why it would be randomly turning off but I've tried everything to fix it so it must be the hard drive. It's not a spindown issue since the shut downs are sporadic (once I was playing 45 minutes, another time it would be within 30 seconds, etc.). I'll be buying a new one today - I really want a portable one so I don't need an adapter.

P.S. I also noticed slower loading times for Wii games with this one - probably due to the 5400 rpm hard disk speed.

    Free Agent GoFlex

Can anyone confirm that the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Drive (1TB) works? Been struggling with it for weeks. Wii games work great, but GC games just go to black screen or the Wii just turns off. Tried a small little USB thumb stick, worked fine. Tried DM 2.2, 2.3, and 2.6.

    Thanks!

I'm guessing that you're either too lazy to read, or not understanding what a spoiler is (LMAO!)

That's not the point of this thread. If you're having issues, they go in the DM thread --- not here. Or the FAT32 guide thread for USB HD. The reason this thread exists is to list the confirmed working or non-working controllers/drives. Your whopping two posts made to the site as newbie doesn't give encouragement (and in fact, create chaos in an otherwise constructive and orderly thread).

    Do this:

    Introduce Yourself

    Look here.

    Look here

    Look here

and here and here and here

Where ever is relevant in the above links, that's where you start and make sure you've done everything right. Questions go in whichever guide you're following (and you better be following said guide, lol).

Sigh... another WD harddrive that does the stupid power off thing with Gamecube games.

This one worked better than last one - much faster loading times on games and came with its own software. It also had a spindown issue (default of 30 minutes) but WD Drive Utilities which came with it could change that to "Never". Still had the shut off Wii problem with Gamecube games though. >_<

Sigh... I go to the store and find Seagate Drive STAA500105 on sale and bought it since it's listed to work for DIOS MIOS. I get home, get it set up, AND GUESS WHAT? Black screen on start-up! I look on the back of the hard drive and it turns out, it's P/N is different than the barcode on the box I bought (it was SUPPOSED to be 9ZFAN6-570)! Below is the data I could collect for the mislabelled hard drive. I did a product number search and it came out as STAA500101 (it wasn't listed on the harddrive and the box was wrong). This is weird since there's already a listing for that drive but mine had a different product number. Source: Stuart Connections

Name of HDD: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500GB Portable External Hard Drive HDD Black

Also, Jax? Could you not list the S/N for hard drives? Since they're the serial number (only just figured out that's what S/N stands for), they won't be consistent even for one specific model. It also provides opportunity for online item theft.
