Nintendo DS Lite hacks
So it's my birthday next week and I was told that I am getting a DS from my mom. I know this probably sounds like I am turning 12, but no I am turning the big three O.

Anyways, what is out there for hacks/mods. Can you download roms with a ds exteme? What products are out there and what works best?

I haven't been in the loop lately.. .but you can use the M3 / Passkey3 which will allow you to play roms/backups... it takes sd/mini... so storage is plentiful...

I ended up ordering the R4 slot 1 card off ebay for 45 USD. It hasn't come yet - hopefully I get it soon!

It is the same as the M3 simply I guess. Plug and play, don't even have to install software.... all drag and drop.

I'll let you know how it is when it shows up!

My brother in law has a ds lite and has a cartridge that plays backups for it. I have one of the original ds systems, does anyone know if there is a cartridge or mod that will work for it?

whats the name of the cartridge? most of them play backup on original ds too.

for the ds. you can get a few different types of cartridges. Ive heard of the M3 and the R4. i think there are more though. How they work is that you put a micro sd card in the cartridge (looks like a ds game cartridge) and you put that in your ds. After that, everything works like a regular game. U just select the game and play. I have one for my regular DS (not ds lite) and it works fine. U can get them pretty cheap nowadays and sometimes u can get them bundled with a memory card. I got mine of dealextreme.com and it was perfect. Good luck. They are really worth it.

Edit* also you dont need to mod your ds in any way. all u need is that cartridge.

i have the ds lite running with a m3 simply flash cart with no problems what so ever

I have the R4 and have never had any problems, a very good site to buy from is dealextreme.com $48.50 with a 1gb card and free shipping.
