I've seen this statement somewhere before. FFCB I think it was.

How long before the games require IOS70?

If you run a 4.2 update on an already 4.2 updated console, it could become an ex-parrot. It could cease to be!

J/k, best rule of thumb is not to take an official update. If you were to take the update from this disc it could replace all your cIOS files with unusable stubs. As you might imagine this would, by many definitions, suck.

Of course that's only if it asks you. It may not, but why take the chance.

If one with a softmodded 4.2 Wii were to accept the disc update then they'd have all their cIOS wiped by the stub IOS, as they have higher revisions. The only thing you'd have is IOS250, so at least the mod could be repeated, still would be a bit of a pain.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

    Thanks

Thanks for the heads up Tealc.

Am I right in assuming active disc update block in preloader will still stop this from the original disc?

    Edit-------

I really am behind in my reading.

Yes that will stop the update, thanks Emuhack

My question is, should I upgrade to 4.2 and then install HBC etc in order to bypass the region protection in 4.2, or would anyone recommend staying on 3.4 - is that even possible? Presumably I could stay on 3.4 and just install required IOS and then use HBC to launch Endless Ocean 2??

    cya later...hijacked thread
