    You can still softmod your 4.1 Wii. Just do not accept the Nintendo network system menu update. <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cmpq%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtm l1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {colorurple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html <o></o>

    in other words remove any wi-fi connections you may have on the wii to prevent nintendo from accessing your wii via their silly updates :P I am gonna be installing some vc games soon like zelda(s) and maybe some classics.

    Sports Resort

    Just an FYI, I picked up wii sports resort today to get the new motion plus but when I put the disk in it was forcing the 4.2 update before it would boot up the game.

    Damn glad I stopped there.

    Brand new Wii Sports Resort for sale, never played... lol

    Ummm..use gecko os...it will have you install the IOS, but that's ok. Just don't run it through disc channel.

    System Menu 4.2 - WiiBrew
    Changes

    * Deletes the Homebrew Channel and DVDX.
    * Now uses IOS70.
    * Wii Shop Channel updated. Use WiiSCU or Wii Shop and IOS61 installer to update the shop channel.
    * Most of the IOS's have been updated or stubbed.
    * Updates your boot2 to boot2v4, overwriting BootMii/boot2.

    Affected homebrew
    Affected Effect Workaround
    Bannerbomb Doesn't work. Use Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns to load homebrew. If you have a broken drive, there is no workaround.
    BootMii BootMii will be overwritten by boot2v4. Wait for an update to the HackMii Installer.
    Homebrew Channel Removed by the System Menu See above. In the meantime, use Indiana Pwns or Smash Stack to load homebrew. LoadMii can be used if you wish for a file selector.
    cIOS Popular piracy cIOS locations are stubs. Don't pirate.
    Preloader 0.29 Uninstalled due to a new System Menu. Since 4.2 uses IOS70, Preloader 0.29 will not work properly. Use Preloader 0.30
    DVDX Removed by the System Menu. Wait for an update to the HackMii Installer.

    Everybody is screwed for anyone who bought a wii now.
    However if indiana pwns works, it at least install the homebrew channel.

    And if you have 4.0+ you will brick if you downgrade.....

    try using starfall or preloader? Don't they have something called "skip update check"?

    damn! I left wii34 connect or w/e on!
    I am going to check it right now rofllmao

    edit: I am still on system menu 3.4 and wiiconnect has been on for like a day since 4.2 went on but the homebrew channel is still installed.

    Wouldn't it be ilegal for nintendo to do a silent update? That could be potentially infringing your rights and privacy (like if you have personal photos... messages ect).

    Nintendo will ask you before doing the update in something like this message:

    Yes, but I meant there is a rumor that nintendo can silently update your wii if you leave wiiconnect64 or w/e on

    true??
    Anyway I was thinking of installing preloader to block that stupid standby connection thing
    preloader ignores if you need the standby connection on to look at the forecast channel right
