    replace the minifan with a high flow,powered at 9~12v, may help the cooling ; and seem neccessary.

    is there a way to use an ide hdd with the wii?

    I also did an internal HDD mod to my Wii:

    All the questions in this thread seem to be related to the fact that you need to butcher/solder a USB port to do it. Why?! A tidy right angled USB cable coming out of the back is perfect!

    Also questions about heat/cooling - i added an extra fan as an intake, and mounted the drive in a different place (I was reluctant to try and stick it above the CPU/GPU heatsink!!).
