How can we now go on the internet? configuring it lets you update... (does starfall block this?) And in order to downgrade, you need internet. but internet means 4.0

Does this mean that since starfall doesn't work in 3.4 and you need internet to downgrade, all people with 3.4 are doomed? Also, do you need internet to use starfall? (sorry, but I forgot). I'm going to install HC at a friend of me tomorow, but don't want to screw it up.

Actually, I updated my console, wanting to remove the HBC, but it didn't remove it.
Did I miss a step or something?

Oh well, I always wanted to try bringing VC games to my friends Wii.

So, If i don't care much about Homebrew.... is it safe to upgrade to 4.0?
i have Wiikey 2 Modchip and currently on 3.2U.
can someone post a procedure or FAQ on how to upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0 with Modchip?

Starfall only blocks disc updates, and you don't need the internet to use it. Your wii won't update itself to 4.0, you still have to acknowledge the update for it to work. I'd make sure that connect 24 thing is off and stays off though.

I have a Wasabi Zero and updated and so far my backups are playing fine. I don't have homebrew so I can't attest to that working. I freed up a lot of memory by moving games/channels to my 8GB sd card, so the update is helpful in that way. I wonder if I can take my SD card and play those games on a friends Wii?

So far it seems like if you have Homebrew don't update, and if you have a modchip (maybe only Wasabi Zero) it will still work fine. So update if you want your modchips to still work, and you don't care about homebrew.

Got a DriveKey a couple weeks ago. It's working on 4.0 just fine. But I didn't have Homebrew installed.

sorry but i have a old modchip called chiip and i was wondering wii the update affect my modchip?

Well we have only had a report about a few people updating with newer chips. It seems fine though, update and tell us what happens. ;D
