Just make sure the ones you buy are made in either Japan/ Singapore/ or Taiwan.....they seem to work the best

Now Some of you that may not have read in our forums much...may be wondering..why just those 2 brands?

well these 2 brands seem to work best...and longest without issues...(1 example is early laser death from inferior quality dvd's)

* The best Verbatims are made by Taiyo Yuden from Japan

So if you happen to find some really good deals on these recommended brands..

Please post them with the expiration date and what country they are in... thanks

Some other brands may work initially however they will not work later....

they may shorten your wii laser life as the laser has to work much harder to read the data on the disc

Hi Guys,

What is the easy way to find out where these DVD's are made, is there a look up or something how you can tell ( i see media codes when your looking to buy the dvd's ) lookup for media codes ??

I just look at the customer reviews. A review on the Newegg site posted above says they work on Wii ISOs. I might get some of those.

thanks for the links...will be purchasing some soon. My Memorex DVD+R's just arn't cutting it. The games play but there are a few audio issuses and the city, in NEED FOR SPEED UNDERCOVER, wont load fast enough.

I looked everywhere for Verbatims today and no stores carried them. I ended up picking up Sony DVD-R 16x (from Walmart) and so far they work great.

Sony has worked great for me and my wii (softmod)
Burned at 4x and 8x and no issues at all.
I just bought 100 dvd-r verbatim at officemax for $15 only (it was $25 with $10 off coupon)
I will be using those soon

I have had no problem with memorex-r and also have some HP (lightscribe). I only bought the memorex because it was what the store had at the time. The lightscribe because it was all i could find locally in (LS) -R.

I know there are the discussions about media.

Is Verbatim recommended by so many because of general quality or wii compatibility? In any of the discussion i had read- verbs werent mentioned. It was always Taiyo Yuden.

I have mostly bought cheap stuff. Last winter i picked up Playo 60pack cake for $5 a piece. +R. I have used about 100 of them. No problems with any. (Just DVD movies/data though.) I have went through and checked them at later dates and none have had any problems.

I just bought [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. The packaging appears to be identical to the +R playos i had. We'll see. They have good buy.com ratings though. Hard to argue with 15¢ a disc. I probably wont use them for games i plan on keeping. I like the lightscribe for that.

I would rather use labelflash but those are impossible to find locally and horribly expensive online...

I wonder if it is peoples drives that cause problems? I have heard many people complain about coasters. I have burned probably 500 CD/DVD with only cheap media. CMC/no name. I can only recall one that had errors.

Most everything is CMC anyways...
