Internal Hard Drive - Wii Hack
Internal Hard Drive - Wii Hack by Deynet
Deynet has [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] a Samsung HS120JB 1.8" IDE/PATA with zif connector mini hard drive into his Nintendo Wii. What's cool about this mod is the fact the 120GB hard drive is directly wired to the Nintendo Wii's USB port allowing you to use it as a mass storage device.
Additionally, due to the small form factor of the hard drive Deynet was able to keep the Nintendo Wii's DVD-ROM drive intact. We'll have more details about this hack soon along with detailed diagrams on how to do it yourself.

This is really cool! Maybe i'll try it when he releases instructions.
I've got a question..when you solder straight to a USB port. Wouldn't you loose access to it externally? I mean, that would leave you with one port for lack of hardware to emulate or handshake with another device.
I would love to see a USB Hub. Then I would be down with performing this mod.
USB Hub will be additional problem since hub must be between MB and devices, so it sould be implemented inside WII if you want internal hdd, and external usb port's should be cut off from MB. Also you could not easily exchange hdd with your friends, or simply put another hdd with another games inside as with USB loader...
Also i am concerned about heating, no matter how small HDD will constantly heat already hot WII. you may apply additional cooling but implying aditional heat source inside wii can be problem on long term use
This looks like a cool hack. Mines only a week old and already got it all installed, so might have to wait for the warranty to run out before I attempt this and as others have said could get a bit toasty in there with the extra heat from the drive. Still a nice hack though!
Umm thats probably not related to Wii in any way......
LOL..I like your name!! One more better would be interceptor, T911 or UL4S. Maybe even Mikobu 3. LOL..too cool. Nice to see someone with a true geek sense of humor.
Now that the usb loader is out, this is definately worth it, but I wander if you can still connect the hard drive to the PC?
LOL, yeah..that would be one good idea of hogging a usb port on the Wii. You could unplug the Wii completely and use a USB-A to USB-A and connect your wii to the computer. This would work unless the HDD required external power.
