DriveKey Adds New Features

The DriveKey being the First of its kind using a new hack method was headed for trouble just days before commercial release.

With thousands of DriveKeys already being produced and flashed, Distributors were to receive them for commercial resale very shortly.
However just days after the major distributors received them and reviewed them,

the FlatMod (Wiinja Team) and WasabiDX (Wasabi Team) announced their similar solutions with extra features.

Since Drivekey would be out first to the market they could have left things the way they were and released a DriveKey2 shortly after, however it seems they've decided to redesign the DriveKey to include nice features including the most important feature updatability.

Though the extra features will likely never need to be utilized it gives us end-users the peace of mind we need.

ill pm you with my main problem =P

but from what you posted, their no different than befor in my book

d2pro/wiikey2/wasabi were always about "the same" in peoples books *though wasabi used a slightly better exploit =P*

the cheaper ones sold MUCH BETTER

the only thing that matters is cost =\ the simple fact people buy clones, is good proof of that

In this case the 3 are

WiiKey Team with DriveKey
Wiinja Team with FlatMod
Wasabi/CycloWiz Team with Wasabi DX

These were the original guys that were in this 2 years ago, but now its a whole new game with these mods.

The DriveKey originally was not equipped with the updatable features until FlatMod and Wasabi DX announced their (unreleased) chips. There is a very nice video from FlatMod being demonstrated so the product is completed and expecting to ship Mid Feb.

So far though they seem to all offer very similar features, the drivekey we know was finished but with the new design we imagine it will look like the wasabi dx. The flatmod does not appear to have the jtag ribbon connectors, but perhaps they are revising theirs as well.

In terms of cost they are all around the same price so it will be interesting to see what happens.

i think it will play out the same

wasabi = like 10 bucks more
drivekey = slightly less like 6 usd
and flatmod like 4 usd more =P

Drive key will get the most, Wasabi the least

in the end, though... its all about which team gets the best things going

wiinja i think is the only one at a disadvantage, since Flatmii, was more accesssable than these chips are... so since they have 2 very different devices currently it will hurt them

This may sound like a complete noob question (which I am when it comes to wii actually) but what exactly is the difference between these 3 chips apart from the pricing? Which one is actually best in terms of quality and ease of use? From the videos on youtube, drivekey seems to be the easiest to install.

considering we said 2 posts earlier that 2 of them arnt even out, and Drive key is about on par with things currently if you dont have epoxy

technically the drivekey isnt out

it would've been but they want to add the new features. So far testing the samples these things are working nice and my samples are RC3 firmware not final. Our batch has been sent back for reprogramming but I guess more than that is being done now :-/

The samples are sweet though, put one in my wii, in my gfs and my brothers for testing. Load times though 3x are not bad at all considering the ease of this product, id say its a winner.

Which chip have u used for it, and if possible where can I get them?

it works on all chipsets, but I tested on an epoxy d2e drive as it doesnt make sense to use this on a drive where you can use a solderless clip/chip and get better features.
This is only a good solution for drives like d2e epoxy and d2nothing drives (new drive that is coming out soon).
