hey guys im really new here IVE POSTED THIS BEFORE :mad:

ok so i bought a wii about 1 week ago from a black market. and i want to use the shop channel but everytime i do it says "pls perform a wii system upgrade" now i know that 3.3 bricks ur wii.. apparently.. im on 3.2 and i know i have a modchip because i can play pirated games. but i do not know which modchip?

I doesn't brick your wii. It just removes unauthlorised code (Twrilight hack files). But they already have a TP hack update that runs on 3.3 and as long as you have Homebrew Channel installed you will be fine.

As for your modchip, im not sure how u gonna know what chip u have unless you open up your wii and look at the chip and compare it with the pics on the net.

thing is that i bought this wii with everything preinstalled..
i dont have the homebrew channel so im assuming that a twighlight hack was never performed on my wii?
so does that mean i can upgrade and everything will be fine? will i still be able to download my free games and play SSBB? wats this about trucha signed discs? so confusing..
but i dont really care much for homebrew.. unless i can get the opera browser for free :D lol

Well since you don't really care for homebrew then its ok. But its not recommended. And there havent been any game that really require it. I might be wrong, someone correct me, but all the AAA games (SSBB, Mario Party, etc) certainly dont need it As for the downloaded games, do you mean VC/Wiware or ISO? ANyway it shouldnt affect your modchip in any way at the moment.
As for the opera Channel, look around the forum, you will find it. Its free. U need the WAD manager to install, and Homebrew Channel will come in handy here but you can also use the Twilight hack. Just make sure you get the right files for your wii region or you could brick it.

There is no harm i updating to 3.3, coz there is a new TP hack and homebrew is uneffected. The ONLY way to brick a wii is if you update from a different region. If 3.3 bricked wii's nintendo would get sued like theres no tommorow
ok yea i did some research on homebrew and its frigging awesome... apparently u can do everything on it that u can do on the shop channel for free.. luckily i did not update so i can still use the HomeBrew Installer Iso method..
the tutorial i found tells me how to setup the SD card, but the package it gives me has the following files:
boot.elf
apps(folder)
private(NOT NEEDED if i have a modchip so i deleted)
wads(folder)

im assuming i delete those as im not even using the twilight hack but rather the iso method..

if you have 3.2 firmware or lower like you say you do then, The Homebrew Channel go to that website download the iso for you region unzip it and burn to disk and install. The method above is for the TP hack which you do not want to do.

i already updated my wii to 3.3 firmware and i have not gotten the homebrew channel. Is there any way possible to still get homebrew games and free virtual console games on my wii?:confused::eek:
