How does the Clip on version work?

This is a little confusing. Based on the pictures of installed mods, it seems that there are points all over the Wii's motherboard that needed to be soldered to the modchip. How does the Wii Clip hit all those points if it just latches on to a specific chip?

Dont even spend your time buying those Wii-Clips..
A person is shipping his wii & his modchip to me cause he's
having issues with it.. they dont really clip like they should..
If they did then i would be a nice deal.. but they get to the right points
on the chip set, that's how they work.. You can check this thread here
