    Unhappy Another Noob Mess!

    Hi

It seems as though I haven't been heeding the warnings from these forums and have updated the firmware on my Wii from the Super Mario Galaxy PAL game!! SMG won't work as it comes up with the 0001 error but thats not the main problem.

When I try and access the settings and try to update any settings, I am asked for a PIN! I have tried various combinations but they don't work. All other games seem to be fine and work OK.

I bought my Wii last April and it comes with a Wiikey. I have not run any updates on the Wii before, so I'm not sure what to do to be able to access my settings. All help and suggestions are warmly received!!

    TIA
    Hi2shy

There are warnings all over the place about not updating games from a different region code, yet people just ignore and do it anyways....

Just stick to games of the same region code and you will never have to worry about bricking your wii or any of the other problems that come along....

Sorry, my mistake! I did upgrade from the same region, but I'm still having problems accessing my settings as it is asking for a PIN.

All games are working OK as well, so it just accessing the settings.

install wiikey 1.9G update for your error 001
install wiikey 1.4 config to have latest wiikey cionfig

then do a dvd update with a SSBB and it may fix your problems.

    it has for some.

Thanks for your suggestions and sorry for the delay in replying.

Managed to resolve it by calling Nintendo and getting them to reset my PIN. Yes it was as easy as that!!

He says, which is why i don't understand the problem really, that he upgraded from the same region.

Therefore do not use SSBB to update! It's not out in PAL land yet, If you are using a pal machine either do it online if everything's fixed now or use Mario Kart to get to 3.2e

Sorry for the confusion everyone, I think I just panicked!!

SMG updated my Wii but as it was the same region, it did no harm, ie I am still able to play all the games.

I then tried to access some settings to try and get my Wii online and I was asked for a PIN. Naturally, I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5 by thinking that the SMG update had reset/changed my PIN somehow.

I now know that this is not the case and that I just needed Nintendo to reset the PIN, so now I can access the settings and try and get my Wii online!!

Once again, sorry for the confusion!!
