A handful of questions, if you don't mind...

Alright... I want to mod my wii. Namely for Wii backup games and homebrew. But I have a few questions I hope you all can help me with.

But I don't know which modchip to get... Cyclowiz or Wiikey seem my best options. I like the fact they're upgradeable, and Cycolwiz appears to be easy to soder. Plus WiiKey says it's not true stealth mode. So I'm looking at Cyclowiz...

Which brings me to my next two questions...

How hard is it to solder it? I've had SOME solder experience, but it's fairly minimal. As long as there is step by step instructions, I'm fairly confident I could do it. And do those nifty Nintendo screwdrivers come with and chips, or no?

Next question is about the stealth mode. First off, we will be able to upgrade the Wii firmware still, hopefully without notice from Nintendo, correct?

And if I was playing Mario Strikers (which I actually plan on purchasing) would I still be able to play against other people online?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to any modding scene really. I've softmodded a few Xboxs... but that's generally it.

    Thanks guys!

I can't really comment on the installation, however I have the wiikey and have had no problems..

People are currently using the wiikey to play mario strikers without any problems

I ..too prefer the wiikey over the cyclowiz...have them both on seperate wiis..testing different chips all the time...lol

some places include the triwing screwdrivers..some do not.. rem...nothing is really free , you do end up paying for it somehow. A good price is $35-40 cad *in your hand Price*

if you decide to buy a Genuine Wiikey.. make sure they come with the official wiikey hologram. this will ensure that you have the latest version of the wiikey and that its not a clone. ACCEPT NO EXCUSES

there is no clones of the cyclowiz.... cloning companies usually only clone the top dog of any heap!....lol

....yes ...you should alway keep your wii updated with the latest firmware ..atm

Mario strikers...yes..some of us have been playing on line and it's great!!!
rem that the ntsc version out is actually a Pal with NTSC patched.....meaning you MUST HAVE wii firmware 2.2U in your console or the game WILL semi-brick you wii.

if you were to do a *proper installation*...the wiikey would be simplier and easier...... you do not have to drill a hole in your wii to mount the program upgrade enable switch for starters.

sounds like you might be planning on using the quick solder method...while it works... it is not the best method..
lets see you get that chip off later and NOT void your nintendo warranty...good luck..
...whereas done with the wire install method it's no problem....

the wire installed method is actually easier and makes for superior solder connections. here you are aligning & soldering only 1 wire to 1 pad at a time...it's not as critical as the quicksolder method, where all points have to be aligned just ever so perfect...

Lets say...an awesome chip comes down the road ( makes coffee, etc,lol)..no problem to remove...just wires.

anyways can go on and on.....sorry

btw have repaired 44 botched modchip installs and a good 80+% was due to not installing the chip properly, making proper contact and then trying to correct the problem or removing the chip....and embarrass to say that one of the first repairs was one my test units....

having said that...everyone rest assured my next 302 installs have been perfect...all wire installs.

hope that we have answered all your questions.

    ok..I am babbled out....

    ho

    2 last questions

Haha, you scare me with this 'Semi' brick talk ; ) How do you semibrick something? I thought it was either screwed, or not screwed...

And where can I order a Wiikey then that I'm sure I'll get the genuine one?

    Thanks again!

semi bricked in the case of the mario strikers charged football.... means after dvd update.... you still can play games but cannot get into wii settings anymore.. and other features like wii update, news, weather, photo..may or may not work..etc.

had 4 customers that couldn't wait for the real version and didn't have wii firmware 2.2U....they are "semi- bricked " atm.

where do you live us or can? pm me if you like

In the US. I just ordered from www.modchipstore.com, which a friend of mine refered me to. I got the Wiikey... now I'm just waiting impatiently for it to get here...
