Xbox360 Accessing Windows XP

I am having some issues getting my Xbox to access my music and videos on my PC. The xbox just doesn't recognize the pc. I am running SP2 and have Windows Media Connect 2.

Any suggestions?

In case anyone is wondering.... i just tried out Vista and the streaming works perfectly...

Although vista is a pretty slow OS for my Intel 2.4Ghz 1gb Ram... i suspect the integrated Video card is the problem.

Are you running a dual boot system with XP and Vista? Also are you using Windows Firewall or a third party software vendor for your firewall needs? There was a Windows update a few days ago that could be the culprit for your access issue since the update pertained to XP operating systems only with the SP2 service pack. Vista was already patched for the update. Check your firewalls exceptions list. I could be wrong but it is just a thought worth checking into. Always good anyway to check it to see who or what is trying to access your computer.

Didn't they make it so only Media Center editions of XP would be recognized?

Well if you have xp/windows 2000 you can use a program called Tversity. Since the xbox only likes to view wmv files, the tversity server will re-encode divx/xvid etc to wmv on the fly...

Works well...
