the chip will have a green sticker on the back if its a d2pro9v2 , there is no other way to tell, do not use a programmer on it if it is a d2pro9v2 it will kill the chip, just gently lift the corner of the chip and see if you can see the sticker , if not you can safely update your chip. steve
you seem to be pretty helpful. I need to buy my sister a modchip for her wii and i will purchase from your site. On another note, my wii, i burned the utility disk for the d2pro and it said no d2pro chip detected. Does that tell me what kind of chip i bought? I purchased a drive that had the mod chip pre soldered in. Let me know what i need to do, i want to be able to update the firmware on it. It did come with a flat ribbon cable and i purchased the programmer this morning so i should be able to? But how do i know what chip i have?
