Netflix coming to Nintendo Wii, soon!

I reported yesterday that the PS3 was getting Netflix service, and there was no plans for Netflix on Wii. Well, now it is reported the the Nintendo Wii will be getting Netflix service.

Quote:
You read earlier this week that the PlayStation 3 will soon offer streaming Netflix via a Blu-ray Disc, and now comes talk of the Nintendo Wii getting a similar treatment. While Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has expressed the desire to do so for some time, not until now have we heard some assuring details about it actually coming to fruition.

According to StreamingMedia, the plan has been in the works for some time and may hit Wii consoles as early as the holidays. This move will put Netflix streaming in even more homes as the Wii remains this generation's best-selling console to date.

Interestingly enough, as StreamingMedia points out, we're coming up on the one-year anniversary of Netflix on the Xbox 360, which in all likelihood was actually just a one-year exclusivity deal with Netflix.

We hope to have more details on the specific functionality of Netflix on the Wii as they develop.

Because I would rather stream the on demand stuff to my nice big TV screen instead of watching it on my laptop or my Mac...
I have an old tube tv, so the digital to analog from my Dell looks like absolute shite when I hook it up to my tv.. Usually this means my fiance and I are watching on demand stuff at the computer/mixing desk and one of us is always hovering over the others shoulder to watch it.
We watch it alot (come on man Voltron is in the on demand section even!! ) so Im personally stoked to hear it.
Not really into downloading and burning movies cause we watch them once and then Im stuck with a piece of aluminum filled plastic thats going to sit around and get forgotten about til it erodes.

I almost bought a 360 over a Wii because of the added Netflix feature but in the end Nintendo won like they have for 23 years now hehe.

Voltron is on hulu

You should not get any better image on an sdtv from your wii compared to your computer. The only trouble you should have is reading the fonts as they are very small sdtv res sucks, but your fullscreen video should be the same if not better on your computer. Your computer has bigger balls.

I think it's a good idea. I also have an analog tv, and watching movies from my computer all right but the quality could be better. I'm hoping that netflix thru wii will offer better quality. I know that the ppl with 1080p tv's may not like the Wii's video quality. My isp kicked me off of torrents (don't ask), so I don't watch as many movies as I used to, if the price for wii is the same as the PS3 price then I think it's worth it.

How exactly did your isp stop your torrents?

They didn't exactly stop the torrents, they gave me the option to stop on my own, and I didn't question them. With 3 Hollywood movie companies requesting information about my ip address, my isp gave me a warning, and said there would be no more warnings. So, no more torrents.

About the only thing I download from now is MegaUpload, Rapid Share, .......etc. Them hollywood types have deeper pockets then I do, and the law is on their side. I really think my isp doesn't care what I do, it's the copyright holder that ruins it.
