ok in the mean time my pc has required a reformat lucky me so have spent the day putting alllll of my programs back on ewwww

now when i was reinstalling i noticed a thing pop up saying there is a nvidia active armor firewall or perhaps could look like nmsrvc.exe

so that got me thinking so lets get this right

    pc has a firewall
    dlink has its own firewall
    avast does that have one
    modem???

oh my god this port forwarding is a nightmare

and after my reformatting still blocked ports...

    i am completely lost now...

i rang optus and they said to put in local area connection section the following
    10.1.1.3 as the ip address???
    same subnet mask
and then the default gateway as 10.1.1.1

down the bottom to put in 211.29.132.12
    and 198.142.0.51

    ????

I would say the last 2 numbers are probably DNS for optus

I just did a quick search, yes, 211.29.132.12 and 198.142.0.51 Are optus dns server

Put 211.29.132.12 as the primary dns server
    and 198.142.0.51 as the secondary
