Wow, this was almost a year ago, but I really feel like digging it up, so I will. Video game music is one of the most underappreciated musical genres if you ask me.
Here are a few examples. These '90s soundtracks set the standards so incredibly high that today's soundtracks are put to shame, even though some of it is still really good.
Heck in fact I like this music so much that I even started uploading soundtracks on YouTube a few weeks ago. The top upload is from me, in fact. Still a baby channel, but it will grow over time. ^^
I still wonder how amazing the Streets of Rage music would be if it was studio recorded instead of sequenced data. Even though it's amazing as it is, it could have been so much more if it wasn't limited by the Genesis' synths. Ape Escape was sequenced music as well, although, because of more sound channels, it probably sounds close to what it was originally composed as. The Terminator and Sonic CD music was studio recorded though.
