    Is it just me?

Is it just me or does it seem like a non stop attack of clueless pirates lately? Like more than usual. Even if they didn't read the site rules you would figure people would get a clue reading through the board. I normally don't use the smilies because they make me feel like a 13 YO girl but we really need a facepalm one. Are there really that many people that lack common sense? (semi-rhetorical)

What you say is not unfamiliar to us. Do realize some of the posts you've commented such in operate under an assumption (as to validity, I'm not saying you're wrong); if the user doesn't outright say it or it's not obvious, we give said user benefit of the doubt. That being said, we more than even you, have noticed this upward and quite obvious trend of late.

We just have to keep doing our job and filtering out the idiots that make these outright rule violations. Maybe it because of school starting up and people having more time on their hands or some other unknown reason but I have noticed an increase too.

Yep, it seems like it has been on the rise lately. I have tried to be as subtle about it as I can with "Please don't tell us this, we don't care, why do you think we want to know this?" kind of responses, but folks seem to be bent on telling us about their internet activities, don't know why.

They're too dense, self-absorbed, or otherwise uncaring Odd --- they don't even acknowledge the edit reason which your posts always plainly states this. Then they get infracted or worse and cry foul. Trust me folks, you folks from the regular userbase see some and maybe a lot --- but due to our excellent staff, not near the volume you'd otherwise see

Yeah...sometimes I can't help but try to lend a hand and then realize I might have done wrong. I'm working at it. Even if I know the answer I try to bite my toungue...er...hold my fingers...you get what I mean. Sorry I still screw up sometimes as do we all. I'll always have my copy left anti-patent stance for valid reasons but I've never admitted to any criminal actions nor shall I. It just boggles my mind how many people don't show any discretion what so ever. I'm also not factoring in some countries have more liberal copyright laws than we do.

Well, I for one wouldn't hold it against a regular member (non-staff) who was just trying to be helpful, and either didn't notice or thought it to be an honest mistake and overlooked it.
After all, you are not thinking in terms of policing the site like I am, you are thinking more in terms of the technical aspects of the questions themselves and that is just the way it is.
We appriciate it when you folks use the report post feature for these things, if you would rather not engage the individual. But you guys are just trying to help, not police.

Obviously when a post/thread is so far beyond fail it almost seems like we are being set-up and folks who know better should just report the post and not engage at all. But I have seen some posts that it was an obvious one word mistake and/or easy for someone to overlook.

I think that it's today's internet society. The kids don't buy anything any more, be it movies, music, and even video games. I think that most of them are clueless when it comes to what is legal and what is not legal. It's just a way of life for some, then they post their illegal activities here like they did nothing wrong.

I've noticed the great job you guys are doing at changing the painfully obvious, but IMO you shouldn't have to. I guess it just comes with the job.
