Some noobs are very dense. I had one with a stupid useless title, simple problem. I made the suggestion the perhaps he would get some help if he renamed it, but no- he replies it is to difficult to think of something.

The world really is full of very stupid people. Thank god democracy is a myth.

My only 'concern' is that some of these threads do go on to conatin useful info from mods and users. Some responsible 'noobs' may be using the search function but as the default is search is set to search post titles perhaps we may be shooting ourselves in the foot?

Still kind of funny but wearing off for me personally.
Thank me or Spank me but leave some feedback

So what exactly is lost? The thread title originally is "help, I'm a newb" and is changed to something like " help, I'm a newb that can't title a thread"

The point is there was nothing descriptive to begin with, so changing it isn't gonna make it any worse. What is wearing off is the fact that ppl have no problem digging themselves into a hole, but when it comes time to seek help, won't take at least the time to describe the problem so we have to ask every question imaginable likie playing Charades. At least they could set themselves apart in the title, they certainly have no problem bumping it or asking why won't anyone help me.

Whoa odd, didn't mean to upset ya.

Perhaps I should be more clear, If you are going to take the time to edit a thread title then perhaps change it to something useful for the search function, once we've all had our 'fun'.

Considering we spend so much of our time telling noobs to search, if they don't know how to set the settings to search entire post then, in the long run, we make more work for ourselves. Just a thought.

I have done this on several occasions as well. Usually when I read the thread and it's obvious that the person was unable to think of a way to do so or was a person that used to come here and believes this is how they should do it because that is how it was when they used to come here. I don't always do that to the useless thread titles, I have edited several in this way. I have noticed since we started doing this, instead of 20 a day, it has dropped to under 10 easily.

What I don't get is why do these people just leave their "I'm a nood with a stupid thread title" title the way it is when the edit button is so accessible and easy to use?

I asked this very question early on in this thread (or rather, why hasn't a single user questioned the... alterations; effectively the same thing concept-wise).

Well the only reason the thread titles are so poorly made is because they clearly failed to read the rules which clearly state how a thread title should look but alas no one tries hence why I asked about rring people for failing to read the rules or if we should just lock the thread but in the end I guess changing the thread title to something far more creative is much more fun and entertaining.
