This is so simple it's not funny and will prevent your Wii being updated to the 4.2 system menu by a sibling or young child who may not know the risk involved.
Turn on your Parental Controls as this will force your Wii to ask you to enter a PIN number before it can proceed with the update.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried this Favs. I leave my WiFi on and my internet. I don't like my daughter browsing the internet without my knowledge, so I have parental control on, and a password.Originally Posted by Favs [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
This works great for the internet, but I'm not so sure on WiFi. I updated the shop channel the other day and it didn't ask me for my password.
Don't want to test it though.

I believe this works only on the official update but I havn't yet tried it as I'm the only one who ever updates and did you update your shop channel with a homebrew app because that might explain why it never asked for permission.

I did the official one, I remember being nervous incase I did a system update by mistake.
I can't use my shop channel at the moment, it wants me to do a system update. You can't say no and carry on, you have to exit to the Wii menu.
What system are you on.

you need some updated ios for this, dunno now, but you can istall it with dop ios
I have two wads that I think I should install after removing the official channel.
1. RVL-Shopping-NUS-v16.wad
2. IOS61-64-NUS-v4890-FreeTheBug.wad
I guess the 2nd one has been modded with free the bug, so no need to use Dop ios.
I looked up NUS and saw the latest shop channel was v17 not 16.
My current IOS61 is ver4890
What do you think, straight forward or not worth the hassel?

no you need the updated channel and the brand new ios61 bugged, but cant be too sure for this...
WiiJohn I'm only running a 4.0E system menu but might use Waninkokos 4.1 updater just so I can get the WSR video fix incase I ever stumble across it.
