If you play a WiiWare title and then Wii Sports Resort after that without turning off the console I believe it forces you to watch that stupid M+ install video again and 4.1 fixes that.

Favs, I use the parental controls anyways mostly to stop my family from majory fucking up the Wii thanks to 4.2... (Big N are Big Douches), but any other way I can get them not to update as they use the Wii Shop Channel often, and I still haven't tried the new Wii Shop Channel Updater yet mostly because I haven't bothered to... If they launch Wii Shop channel will I have to make sure they don't update?

    Wii: 3.2E

I havn't used the shop channel updater yet but if they want to use the shop channel then they're going to need to update the channel with the updater that was released recently then you should be fine.

I have updated my shop channel, and its kept all my downloaded channels and points,
most importantly I don't get the message to update.

All I needed to do was install the wad RVL-Shopping-NUS-v17.wad.

I actually messed about, I installed IOS61-64-NUS-v4890-FreeTheBug.wad before, which gave me the upside down HBC, I should have know better because I'd read about people having that.
So I uninstalled IOS61-64-NUS-v4890-FreeTheBug.wad, and then installed my original IOS61-64-NUS-v4890-.wad

On Dogeggs download site there are three directories,

    1. Shop Channel 4
    2. Shop Channel 4 patched
    3. Shop Channel 4_2 patched.

I grabbed all of #2 instead of just one file from #3.

    From Nintendo / Parental Control

If your Wii console is also connected to the internet, you have the ability to place limits on the following online features, found in the "Other Settings":

Online Communication and User Created Content
Controls sending and receiving of messages from the Wii console and in online games where open communication is available, as well as controls the exchange of user created content in compatible games and channels (Wii Message Board, Check Mii Out Channel, etc.).
Note that system updates will be delivered regardless of this setting.

    Regards

System update MESSAGES are the only thing they deliver.

they really cant deliver updates without your knowledge, they would have a half million wii
s coming their way for repair if they got shut off without the person knowing they are updating. especially with this update to boot2, very dangerous stuff...regarding that wii sports resort issue before, it only affects system menu 4.0 so on 3.2 you should be ok if you run a wiiware or vc title in between playing resort, very fun game by the way. but for updating i am hoping someone in the future can make a system menu hack that wii not allow you to enter the settings menu, from preloader or something like that...i honestly don't go in that menu very often, like for example i went in there a few months ago and found out i have my sensor bar set to bottom (my bar is on top) from the day i bought this system which was almost a year ago! i wouldn't mind blocking it and having to reenable it at all

    Not working?

I just set up parental restrictions and restricted everything that was related to online.. then I went ahead to see what happened if I selected Wii System Upgrade: it gave me the notice that this could have some nasty effects if I had unofficial software and after I selected OK it went ahead with the update. I immediatly powered down the console and succesfully avoided the update, but at least in my case the parental controls didn't seem to affect the ability to update the firmware.

    Just FYI.
