backup help needed

i have 3.4e wii
softmodded with 4.1 for dummies no problem
got hbc usbloader1.5 and gamma02

these work fine with most games but i want to try and install
neogammar7 and usb loader gx
with isos aswell

i read that u can do a nand backup
with bootmii to help with any bricking issues
but i dont have bootmii folder and i read that preloader only works on 3.2 and4.0

anyone please help with how to sort nand on my system setup

ps i have drivekey installed as well dont know if that helps

Because your Wii is 3.4 you won't be able to install bootmii as boot2 only as IOS-less helpful for recovery from a brick. However, you can upgrade to 4.1 in this tutorial aand then install preloader-that will help. There are also links in this tutorial for NeoGamma and USB Loader GX. As you already have HBC and probably some channels/HB apps etc installed, you can skip that step and follow the rest of the tutorial step by step. Good luck.

Your information is wrong. If just because he has system menu 3.4 does not mean he cant install bootmii as boot2. He could have upgrade from 3.2 to 3.4. Now if his wii was manufactured in the middle of 2008 then he wouldn't be able to install bootmii as a boot2

Good God-it's still doing it. One more time...thanks, you are correct. I misplaced the word "probably" from my final post and lost that train of thought. I just wanted to warn him of that possibility before delving into the minutae of the softmod tutorial. I had to type that darn post 3 times-something's going wrong with my Netbook. The message keeps going away. Had to type response to you 2 times. Anyway-thanks for the catch.

thanks for info but just got back from work kids have been playing on wii
and created another problem for me
they have been using usb loader 1.5
and selected sd card to load games from and yes they then formatted it to wbfs

now all my homebrew folders etc have gone

i still have hbc screen but nothing in it..

yes i know i should have backed up the sd card but cant decide who the biggest idiot me or the kids...

please any one help
can i reinstall everything over the top or will this make an even bigger mess
of whats happened

Still on my crappy machine-here goes: your HBC is still fine just has nothing to see. You should be able to reformat that SD card to FAT32 and download some HBC apps, install some utilities/games using the HB Browser if you want. Or use another SD card if you want the kids to keep their game saves because they were adorable when you confronted them about the problem:-).

Once your properly formatted SD has some apps in the Apps folder in root, HBC should see them. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

ill try to get hbc showing stuff again
but what about all the ios that was installed at the beginning
are they still there or can i reinstall
them all with wad manager ?

my wii was bought dec 2007 dont know what firmware was originally on it
so is it poss to install bootmii as boot2
if so
how?

All the IOS mods you made are still in the Wii, once you installed them using Wad Mgr-you no longer needed the wads on the SD card.

In case you forgot:Root Directory of SD should have an Apps folder and a Wad folder; I'm sure you had others, but bare minimum here to start.

With regard to boot2 vs IOS again-while you report your system is 3.4; if you upgraded to 3.4 from 3.2 or earlier you may be able to install bootmii as boot2. This option was blocked with the Wiis issued with 3.3 and up FW in about mid-2008. So, your Dec 2007 Wii has a good chance of being able to install bootmii as boot2-most desirable outcome.

Ahh ...children what would our lives be without them..more money, less worry, and more free time? Who needs that?
