    Question Benefits of Channels?

I didn't really see a good place to post this so this area seemed safe. Thanks to the useful information all over this forum I've managed to modify three Wii, backup and use many games and install Waninkoko's USB Loader on the main Wii we use. BTW; For those that have not tried Waninkoko's USB Loader, I highly recommend it! (Hint: Hit the "B" button and viola icons. Why isn't that in text on the screen somewhere?)

To load games onto the USB drive I use WBFS Manager 3.0 which offers the option of creating Wii Channels for games. I'm unclear as to what the benefit would be of having a Wii Channel, for example for Animal Crossing, Cooking Mama and Guitar Hero. (Games played most in my house)

I'd love to hear some pros and cons of installing channels especially on a young child's Wii (6 year old). She does still have to load disks in hers (using Backup Launcher) because Daddy hasn't been willing to buy, format and copy a hard drive as of yet.

while I dont play around with usb loader, I'd take a guess and say at best for convenience???

Just like on a comp, you put shortcuts on your desktop, so you don't have to go through lots to find them

    Again, Just my theory

    trekster is correct.......

    PRO's

    1. CONVENIENCE -what could be easier than click 'A'

    2. wear & tear, for the disc AND the drive

    3. simplicity, no navigation required via HBC
(tho I'm sure that wouldnt be a problem for a 6 yr old!)

    CON's

    1. space?? they do take up space on the Wii memory, though due to their small size this shouldnt be a major problem - just have the channels for those types of game you go back to again and again (Animal Crossing, Brawl)

What he said. It's just so you can save about 4 seconds of your life loading the game.

I'd say the downside is clutter. I like the shortcuts on your desktop analogy. Some people dont mind having 500 shortcuts on their desktop. Some people hate more than a few. It's the same with channels on the wii.

well if it does start getting cluttered can't he just delete the channels they dont use no more and make room for new ones
Come to the Irc room to get help or just have fun

Personal preference plays a big part, I like GX loader as all games are within this application and then all you do is click on the cover images that are stored on SD.

Or move them to the Sd card.
But of coarse you will need system version 4.0 to do this.

Ca How Do I Set USB Loader GX as a Channel?

This may be an easy procedure but I cant remember for the life of me how to do it. I had previosly set neogamma loader as a channel when my system was still 3.2u but I have recently updated to 4.1 and added usb loader gx. But I have to go through the homebrew channel to access it. I would like to set the usb loader as a channel.

Also I cant find out how to get rid of my system update channel!! Im worried that someone will update accidentally and brick the wii.

I would like to get rid of the weather, shop, ect channels as well.

I have seached the tutorials for an hour and cant find any answers to these problems. If I missed them then I am sorry.

Shift channels to the far screens by dragging them (A+B)

3 ways to load USB Loader GX, dol, forwarder wad, channel wad. Install channel wad using Wad manager.

Don't ask where to find USB Loader GX as that would just be too lazy.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
