    Wordpress users?

    I'm curious to know how many folks here have worked with wordpress, and your experiences with it.

    I got some web hosting and a domain a few weeks ago, and it had been over a decade since I messed with any HTML or JavaScript, and I never heard of CSS lol

    This was great though. Instal a theme, add plugins, and open the CSS file to start changing whatever the theme doesn't specify.

    Worked a bit with it back in '08/'09. Had some fun. Still couldn't find out exactly how to seamlessly change versions on a user-made theme. Great stuff, though.

    Did you use a child theme? That's what I did, using my custom CSS file and whatever others I had modified.
    I had to rename or delete the parent theme, then instal the new one.

    I actually wrote an XHTML page from scratch, then broke it down into a few PHP files, then pointed the content to the WordPress variables. A PITA, if you ask me. You're much smarter than me.

    @Odd:

    SS2 has direct hands on experience with this, might be worth a shout out to him.

    Love WordPress. Been using it for sites for several years, web design isn't my best skill. But I've used WordPress several times. Themed using Child themes, customizing the CSS as necessary and creating custom taxonomy/post-type templates with some PHP knowledge.

    The VG news site I write for is based on wordpress. I've not done a lot of writing lately, though. I've never configured one, only used someone else's configured system.
