Is there any reason a Wii would stop reading GameCube games even though it still reads Wii games? And yes, my Wii is an older model with the GC ports.

Edit: I think it may be my BC file, I've read that it's needed for GC games to work. Can anyone please help me fix this?

If you installed Dios Mios, you lose the ability to read GC games. You need to install MIOS v10 to get it back.

Did that and it still didn't work. I'm pretty sure it's my laser cause 2 of my GC games finally worked after about 5 tries and more than 1hr of ejecting and reinserting.

If you use burned game discs for a long time that damages disc drive.Lots of people use USB Loaders because of that and other reasons.Wii is not innvented to play backup games.

I did use burned discs at first but not very often. I guess I'm learning the hard way. That being the case, would it be damage to just the laser or the whole drive itself?

Edit: I'm gonna try hunting down the official lens cleaner Nintendo made and see if that helps at all...4-5yrs of heavy use is bound to dirty up the laser. Not gonna get my hopes up but it's worth a try I suppose.

Edit 2: Can't find an official one so I'm gonna build one, find instructions online.

I pretty sure the laser is damaged like you said anyway, so I'll just have to get it replaced. I found a place near me that does repairs for Wiis, they just charge a $30 diagnostic then charge to fix whatever the problem is...of course doing it myself is an option I just to feel to confidant I could without messing something up.

And from now on I know that just cause Wii CAN read burned discs, doesn't mean it should...lol. That info should've been in the guide when I hacked it.
