You cant update to 4.0 as Apple already stopped signing that firmware. The latest firmware is 5.0.1 and I'm sure that will update your baseband and you wot be able to unlock until the chronic dev team updates Ultrasn0w.

when you update to 5.0.1 it will remove your jailbreak, but have no fear, there is one available as im considering it myself

So at this point I am stuck at 3.1.3 until ultrasn0w supports the basebands of signed firmwares by apple. That really blows, anyways thanks for your help if u can think of anything else please let me know thank you.

    No problem

@yogi If youre going to use that tut dont use redsnow 0.9.10 b1 you will have mobile substrate issues and cydia apps wont launch.

Look for redsnow 0.9.10 b3 and use that to jailbreak it. It still isnt perfect tho but almost every issue has been fixed.

    sgtslaughter009:
To update iOS while preserving baseband firmware, you should use either
Pwnage Tool for Mac OS or
    sn0wbreeze for Windows

redsn0w is good only for jailbreaking after the iOS has been installed (but if you did it using iTunes, your baseband may have been irreversibly updated and locked to a phone company).

This thread has been dead for nearly 2 years. I think it's safe to assume his problem was solved long ago...with that, I close this thread.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct
