PodCast Description editing, can it be done?

So here's what's going on. My grandmother told me about some radio drama from the 40s that loved. Upon searching I've found it had become public domain (100% legal to download). So I went and tracked down as much as could be found. Before I tell her and sync it to her iPod (yeah, she's got an iPod touch at her age lol), I wanted to add relevant info to it via description (ie, original Air date, starring who in what roles, what the series is about etc etc), but I can't figure out how to do it in a way that will let the info display when being listened to on a iPod/iPhone.

I did some googling and found a site that said "click 'get info', then click the video tab and enter the info in that description box", but that doesn't display the info on the iPod/iPhone...it only shows the description in iTunes that way.

So, long story [not so] short, is there some way to add that info I mentioned and have it show on the iPod or iPhone? I'd like to do so if possible, I feel like it would make it all the nicer of a gift.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

I use MetaX to add info to my movies that I rip and import into my iTunes library.

Would that work for audio files as well? MP3s to be specific, it's an 72 year old radio broadcast.

Ahh. Right. I don't think it is meant for audio.

Are you editing these in any way? or just downloading them and importing them? If you're editing, I know Audacity lets you add some meta tags at the time you export the audio (that's what I've used in the past for podcast publishing). If not, then I think putting it in your iTunes library then editing the info via "Get Info" may be the easiest way to go. At least there, if you want to add the same thing to many files, you can select the set and make one edit to change the name of a show, or the maximum number of tracks (so each track knows it is 1 of 35, etc.)

I just downloaded them as mp3s and added them to iTunes. They got added as music so I want to "Get Info" then hit the Options tab and changed the media type to podcast (cause they're not music, they're "radio drama" which is basically TV without the picture).

The only editing I've done to the files has been the ID3 tags via a program called MP3Tag, but that doesn't allow adding of a description as far as I can tell.

I can add all the info I want into the comment box but that doesn't appear to do any good cause you can't view the comments on iPod. I suppose if there's really no way I could leave them in music and add said info under the lyrics tab :P

Edit: for reference, here is an example of what I mean by adding a description:

As you can see, right above the subscription slider, is info about the podcast. There is additional info for each episode that gets displayed while the "episode" is playing that gives info on just the specific episode which I also cannot get to display. In addition to all that (yeah, more problems...though this may not be related, I don't know) the files I'm trying to add all say there dates are December 31, 2000 but only when they're in the iPhone or iPod as a podcast. If I leave them as music and just look at the Get Info option they display the correct date of when the files were last modified.

In the Options tab of "Get Info", you can change it from "Music" to "Podcast".

The description field is in the "Video" tab (even though it's not a video file).

and in the "Info" tab, you can set the episode number in the "track" field.

See if any of that helps.

That's how I've been doing it but it doesn't appear to be working as I would like it to. Thanks for the help though. I guess I'll search google a little more but please throw out any more ideas that come to mind
