    Hello Wiiorld

Hi, my son and I recently decided that our 2 Wiis, being out of warranty, were time to HB, so here I am. It is great to see so much activity and I hope I can contribute in some way. I've already tried and lightly fumbled this procedure here: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html but that is for another thread. Not bricked, but not playing many games.

    Hello and welcome to

Thank you for joining the best Nintendo Wii modding community there is. Please take time to read the Forum Rules and follow them, this will make your experience here a lot more enjoyable.

We are here to help you with any problems you might have with your modding experience. But please remember to search and research for your problem before posting. Most of the time someone will have the same problem and a solution has been posted already. For help with searching tips you can look at the [GUIDE] Ultimate Searching Tool [Guide]

Now if you want the best guide, in my opinion, to softmod your Wii. Follow the Softmod any Wii Guide, you can also use this guide to update your old softmod.

Or if you were just looking to update your cIOS, d2xv7 installation guide will get them up to date with the recommended base setup.

But before you do have a look at Thinking about hacking a wii? Start here! [A basic introduction to Wii hacking]. This will give you a better understanding of how things work in your Wii.

After you get your console sorted, you will need to find a way to backup your games. The best way is to copy them to an external hard drive or usb flash drive. You can copy them to DVD -r's, but only if your Wii's disc drive is old enough to be capable of reading them. Wii's made after Sept. of 2009 are not able to play backups from disc. You can check the Wii Drive Chip Database to see if yours will play DVD -r's.

BEFORE GETTING A USB DRIVE CHECK THE USB COMPATIBILITY LIST.

The recommended usb drive setup is fat32. Although, you can still use NTFS or WBFS loading.

IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH A PARTICULAR GAME, CHECK THE ULTIMATE LIST OF TROUBLESOME GAMES, TO FIND A FIX FOR IT.

IF YOU HAVE AN ERROR, CHECK THE ERROR INDEX

YOU CAN PLAY GAMECUBE BACKUPS ON YOUR WII IF YOUR WII HAS AN OLDER DRIVE THAT WILL PLAY COPIED DISCS.
YOU CAN NOW PLAY GAMECUBE BACKUPS FROM A SD CARD WITH THE DIOS MIOS LITE GUIDE!

WiiHacks also has a IRC Chatroom! So you can talk live to members and staff!

First read the IRC Welcome & Rules

All modchip users go to the modchip section.

Also if someone helps you, it is greatly appreciated if you click the thanks button.
You can also show your support to help us keep helping users, by making a small donation.

There are many more guides for homebrew and Wii related fun. Also we have sections for other game systems for those of us that just can't get enough of any one console. I personally have multiple console and handheld game systems. So have fun browsing the site.
