I have had a Wii for almost a year and I am addicted. My first Wii was the new Wii with no Gamecube support. I was a previous gamer from the past, although before getting my Wii I was not gaming for a few years. I started when I was a child when I got the Colecovision. Arcades were popping up at the time and I spent hundreds of quarters playing my favorite games. I played the Intellivision at my friends quite regularly Some time passed and I got a NES and played endless hours playing. My next system was the PS1 many years later. On to a PS2 and that's where it stopped for a while.
My initial reason for purchasing a Wii was for the Wii Fit. I injured my back and I needed some light exercises to get in shape. Once I discovered the potential for fun with the Wii I became addicted. I spend my gaming time playing Virtual Console, WiiWare, and store bought games. I get frustrated beating long games and most times I use guides to help me finish.
I was always scared to hack my Wii for fear of bricking it. I read the forum in the past but I found it overwhelming Finally I picked up a couple used Wiis and I just hacked my first Wii. I will have lots of questions for all of you and look forward to becoming part of the community.
