Hello World - from here in not-so-sunny England !

    Hey Everyone !

Just joined the Forum today, having come across it a few days back.

Been reading a few of the starter boards and threads, do's and dont's etc. Crikey - there is a lot of good advice and guidancee to take in ! So don't expect me to be posting for a while, as I don't want to be told 'just open your eyes and search'

Been a Wii owner for nearly 4 years. Got three of the things around the house now, along with over 40 mainly A-list games (purchased new, original, retail). Loads of Guitar Hero stuff - full band set + Rock Band too, 3 guitars, 5 remotes (incl a Doctor Who one) and nunchucks, Classic and GC controllers, Wii Fit balance board, steering wheels, Zapper, sports accessories etc etc. So Nintendo have done alright out of me !

The first Wii was bought brand new, the second (two years ago) and third (last week) were pre-owned.

Bought the second Wii to mainly use BBC iPlayer on (official TV streaming app from the Wii Shop channel here in the UK). Bought the third as I finally fancied playing with Homebrew to see what it was all about. Didn't want to risk 'bricking' the other two, as they are both Platinum Ambassador consoles (20 connections on each) so have free access to 100+ Virtual Console games through Wii Shop and 10,000 Wii points.

All 3 of my Wii's are running System Menu v4.3E, therfore cannot install BootMii as boot2, so I'm not fully brick-protected even with a NAND backup.

I installed the Homebrew Channel on Wii #3 without problem via another authoritive site. In addition, I have installed WiiMC - so cool listening to music, watching DVD's etc ! - and a few other small Homebrew apps.

My ultimalte goal is to backup my original game disks to hard disk, to prevent damage and make for easier playing. I am petrified my disks will get scratched, so don't like playing them too much. About a third of them are still sealed and unplayed, I'm ashamed to admit.

Thanks to everyone who has put this site together - such a brilliant resource and community.

Anyway, enough for now, off to read a lot more !
