    Yet another new user..

Hi all, I've never hacked anything in my life, so this is all super new to me!
I came here because I have an old(ish) wii from back in 2009, maybe 2008, and am having some trouble with it. I bought it in the UK and now live in the USA, and it seems incompatible with my tv!

Anyway, this is just my intro, I'll post with a more specific title etc once I've scoured the forum a little more to see if anyone else has had the same issue.

Thanks in advance to all the mods and other Wii smarty pants on here!

Sorry, could you expand on "not compatible with my tv"? Do you mean the cables or is there a message that pops up? In other words, what shows you that it is not compatible with your tv?

Also, you know that the UK and America sell games with different regions, right? So if you but a game in America to play on your European wii, it will not work?

This is because European wiis require PAL games and American wiis require NTSC games.

    UK wii in USA

Hey, yes thanks, I'm aware of the PAL vs NTSC issue. I have plenty of games from the UK, and if I need more I can always have family members send them.

The compatibility issue is that when I plug my wii into my Insignia 42" flatscreen plasma TV, it only appears in black and white, and is "shaky". I've messed around with both the TV and wii settings, with no luck. At first it didn't even fit on the screen properly, but I got that adjusted.

I have read on other discussions on here that a softmod and then region hack should fix it? The strange thing is that the wii works fine on a friends Phillips TV here in the US.

I have also read on another discussion forum, that getting a replacement "component" cable can do the trick? I'm honestly not too fussed with the region incompatibility issue with games, I just want to be able to play the games I already have without looking at a black and white fuzzy/shaky picture.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Oh, and I checked last night, and its version 4.2E

    Thanks!

    Warning duly noted...
My bad, I was actually confused between the intro yourself page and the newbie forum... I'll trundle on over there... That and the fact that I got a reply so fast kinda threw me off.
    Thanks guys...
