Hi everyone / I can't believe how far Wii homebrew has come

Just want to say hi... I'm (obviously) a new user.

I'm a big Dreamcast fan. I used to think it was the best console for a long time.

I waited in line the night before the Wii launch. It SNOWED that night! (trust me, it's an epic story... my boss even let me leave work early to wait in line) I got it, took it home, and loved it for a little while... Then it just sat there and collected dust.

Wikipedia resparked my interest in Wii when I read about the Twilight Princess game crash and the homebrew possibilities waaaay back in February this year... But back then nobody really knew what to do with it. I remember reading that the only way to get into the Wii was the Gamecube memory card slot and a Gecko SD loader. So that information left my conscious mind and I went on with my life.

I had to move in May and I just got the internet back in October... And... Let's just say Dreamcast is now my 2nd favorite console of all time. It's amazing to me to see how Wii hacks and homebrew advanced in less than half a year.

I'm glad there's a Wii hack community that I can be a part of.

Hi RockMan_Forte, welcome to the WiiHacks community. Yes Wii Homebrew scene has come a long way and is making big strides, thanks to all the Homebrewers.

    uhhh, not really xD

its like once you get your foot in the door, you never want to remove it

if you REALLY look into it its not like a lot of the homebrew is that over the top amazing atm or something to be marvled at

outside of the 100% useless apps like the DVD runner ap, and other apps like that which lets face it isnt that over the top or uncommon like the Emulators which ALWAYS appear on systems *psp had them, after like 3 months -,_-,*

    but come on
back up loader... well we have mod chips it was just a matter, of making a program able to do it, not like it was a 100% new thing
Wad Installer... from the very moment people saw that shop im sure they were working on how to get the files installed, in wait for a time it could be tested *wasnt it like the 7th or so app xD*
Gecko OS... loads stuff region free, and newer ones have a cheat device which is the same as Gecko OS -,_-, nothing all too amazing there
anyregion changer... it just changes all the wiis region data, not like its too hard to figure out, and its highly risky in any mannor...

im not saying that homebrew is bad, or that its nothing amazing, or that i could do better because i dont care to, and probly cant, since the wii doesnt need anything, but you cant call Feb to November quick, since the HBC was made in march or so...
and any app worth using is stuff really useful and people would spend much more time working on than other things
