    Ca Hello ;-)

hello, bought my wii last week and got it modded yesterday with the Wiizard but only problem is that the drive doesn't work

I called the guy who modded my Wii and I'll take it back to him to take a look tomorrow.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear that. You should have your modder test it for you, prior to leaving to ensure it works. Hopefully it will work out though, perhaps something simple he missed.

He did test it. But when I came home I didn't have time to test it until today. Oh well, he says he might have an idea. When I power on my wii, the blue led blinks for a second and that's it. The wii menu does come up though, so I guess that's a somewhat of a good sign.

That's correct. I did force one in but when I press eject it won't come out.

never never force it in, it will just make things worse as it can throw the calibration off.
Right now there is nothing you can try so leave it to the installer to check it out

And ask them if they'd like to buy some cheap wiizard chips, we are going to be selling them really cheap soon

Well, I took it back to the modder to take a look at my wii. He removed a resistor he put in (I think that's what he called it), and re-soldered a couple of the connections. When I press Power On, I have to wait about a minute before the dvd drive is recognized. Once it's recognized, I can power it off and on and the drive works fine. If I power it off for a longer of period of time then I have to wait a minute again until the dvd drive is recognized.

Is it common to wait a minute for the drive to be recognized on modded wii's?

I also read this from a supplier's web site:

"The Wiizard does not have an auto drive detect built in, this is controlled by placing solder on the appropriate pads to enable support for that drive type or console region. This is not a complex method and has some advantages as they will not suffer from any of the auto drive type / region bugs some chips have from trying to auto detected the drive type. We have seen a few bugs in all the major chips that have auto drive type detection, some have been rectified and some not, so it's good to know from an installer point of view that the hard mode for selecting drive type means they won't have customers coming back with drives that sometimes lock at boot because the chip was unable to sync to the right drive type in the firmware."

I am not sure what the above paragraph means but I am wondering if it has anything to do with my wii dvd drive problem.

btw, thanks for all the welcomes and responses. This seems like another great forum with a great community.
