First time poster on this forum. I have been modding wiis since 2006 but never been active on a site.
My first wii had a wiikey v1.0 that I soldered myself and worked great. I sold it in 2007 and bought a ps3.
A couple of months ago, I decided I wanted another wii. Bought a used one from 2006 production and installed a drivekey lite (xeno key 2.0). Works great for almost every game but now NSMB has come out and I don't want to open the wii again and buy another modchip.
I have decided it is time to try softmodding.
I have a wii with firmware 4.2u installed and it has never been modified other than the modchip.
I will be using the "Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus".
Should have my sd card arrive tonight and I will be able to start my progress.
Hopefully I will be able to install bootmii as boot2 (considering I have an older wii)... can anyone comment on this procedure and if there is a way of telling by our serial number if it is possible or not?
This forum is for introductions, post questions in the relevant forum.

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.
And please do donate to the forum if you are able so we can go on helping the Wii community.
I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.
