If you are starting from scratch, new 3.1-4.1 written by Dogeggs
If you already have Homebrew, upgrade to 4.1 written by Dogeggs
Don’t update to 4.2, but if you are already on 4.2, complete 4.2 guide written by Messie
2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.
And please do donate to the forum if you are able so we can go on helping the Wii community.
I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.

Do NOT PM for Site or Wii Issues
Should be fine if you take your time and read the tutorial very carefully: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html. Folks generally run into problems by skipping a step or panicking and trying to undo something. Take your time and post any questions in the tutorial thread. Make sure to use an SD not SDHC card, formatted as FAT32. Best is a 2GB SanDisk if you've got it.
Step 4 needs Internet access, just make sure that WiiConnect24 OFF or you will accidentally be updating to 4.2 instead of 4.1. Internet ON; WiiConnect24 OFF.
Good Luck on your softmod.
