    Hi all, moved UK->USA

    Hi all,

I just moved from the UK to the USA and brought my wii with me.
Waaaaa, what a world of pain!

Anyways, after an afternoon on google trying to solve my probs I ended up here a few times. So I've joined up hoping to pick some pearls of wisdom from the forums on how to get around my probs! Whatever the solution its not going to be an official Nintendo endorsed solution!

    Anyway, once again, hi all!

Take it from someone who knows, I moved from UK to USA over 3 years ago. get rid of your wii and buy a new/used one here instead. You can buy a ntsc/pal converter but by the time you are done with cables and set ups you are almost in the hole for the same as a second hand machine and you have a fried brain. That is of course if your TV can even handle the converted signal.

I have seen wii's on Craigslist for 110 dollars lately.

There may be a completely new way about things now, but I know I was ready to tear my hair out a couple of years ago so I just gave up on it.

p.s. I was a Leeds boy before moving (didn't support Leeds though) wouldn't go back to the UK to live for all the tea in china.

Yup, that definately occured to me! I just feel so down that we had just bought the balance board and a whole bunch of accessories before moving.

Was wondering about the whole AnyRegionChanger deal with regards to making a permanent switch to USA. We used the better quality RGB/Component out into a projector anyway so signal was no prob.

Does anyone know if I use the AnyRegionChanger prog if it will permanently make my wii like a real US model (firmware updates and all)

I dont mind losing the games, we only had a few anyway.

Hi and welcome to WiiHacks GarethP

If you need advice or help for anything Wii related you have joined the right site, whether its hard or soft modded.

Don’t be shy, ask if you are stuck, just don’t expect other people to do all the work for you.

Before you start anything, make sure you read the rules go over the tutorials, and most importantly, search before asking questions.

Make sure you post in the correct areas of the forums.

Here is the site index Ultimate WiiHacks Index written by ShadowSonic2

If you are starting from scratch, new 3.1-4.1 written by Dogeggs

If you already have Homebrew, upgrade to 4.1 written by Dogeggs

Don’t update to 4.2, but if you are already on 4.2, complete 4.2 guide written by Messie

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.

I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.

Well you won't lose the games or the accessories, they can be made to work on any wii.

Actually, thinking about it, you are right, the wii can be region changed (unlike the ps2)

Forget my reply from yesterday. LOL
