    GC adaptor/driver info needed

    Hi all,

Not quite a newbie but certainly not an expert.
Homebrew install was fine. I've searched the site for answers to my question but not found anything. I'd like to make a NAND backup but I've got one of the Wii's where the power/reset buttons won't function with bootmii. I read everywhere that the GC controller can be used but, this has a different connector. If I buy a GC-USB adaptor like the mayflash super joy etc it comes with a driver. Do I put this driver on the SD card? if so does there need to be a special folder for it. Thanks in advance. J.

    Belvedere,
The game cube controller plugs into the wii as is, after you lift up the cover. There is no need to look for adapters!

Hello and welcome to the wiihacks community.

I know you are anxious to get started; but, there are a few items to cover before you post your questions or start doing anything to your Wii. If you intend to make software-based modifications of your Wii (softmod), including installation of the Homebrew Channel, DO NOT ACCEPT THE LATEST NINTENDO UPDATE. DO NOT UPDATE TO SYSTEM MENU VERSION 4.2.

Make sure you read the rules of this site. There are a number of tutorials and guides available to assist you. Make sure to either look through the tutorials or use the search function before asking questions. While the moderators, staff, and members of this community are willing to help you, some effort on your part to read, research, and follow the rules is expected. To get the best response to your question(s), post in the associated forum areas. This is very important as inappropriate posting could get you restricted to the reading room or even banned. If, after looking at the tutorials and trying to search, you still need help or just want to post a very basic type of question, go to the http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-newbie-corner/.

If this site and our members have provided substantive help, you can Donate to the forum and get a nice banner under your name and gain access to the donator forums.

As Cressida stated, no adaptor is required to use a GameCube controller with the Wii. There are 4 GC connection ports on the left side of the Wii under the lift-up cover. Enjoy your stay with us.
