    Using Wii as DVDii player...

Install the Homebrew channel and Can run all the apps... But still my Wii doesn't play DVD player. It just says mounting DVD and doesn't play it... Any other hacks, mods that I need? Thanks.

Did you install DVD X when you used the hacmkii installer?

Also, how old is your wii?

Yeah, if your Wii is 2 years old or newer, you won't be able to play DVDs nor backups via optical.

Also: having a spelling fail, "Kanobi"?

If what Nightstah said is the case. Then you might be able to fix this by replacing the DVD drive with an older model. Would someone confirm this? I don't mess with those newer Wii's too much. I owned one once.

Drives up to D3-2 can be swapped out, yes. The D4 has an incompatible physical footprint and no way of doing so...

Okay, I wasn't sure if there was an different model because I did see a part from an odd that didn't look familiar on someone's thread.

The newest model I did swap pcbs on was d2e and d2b. But that was to see if something was defective. I swapped them back since then. No-one wants D2E in their Wii.

Left is typical, up to D3-2. At right: D4.

I got this Wii from my mother in law and have no idea how old it is. I'm a newbie on this... 4.3 version hack installed. How do I find out how old or what type of DVD player I have?

    Kenobi yes... I'm a distant cousin .

I guess it doesn't matter what hack I used right?

Please do not double post, that's against forum rules. Look on the back of your Wii for the serial number, type it here.
