My SD card for Homebrew is corrupt.

Is it some procedure to repair the files on the card from a PC?
Or better update everything?
It was installed over a year ago from the directions on this site.

I would update everything, there are so many new apps out there now.
Generally, can I just sit on Windows and update?
Should I run some updater from the Wii?
